Early Medical School Selection Program
The Early Medical School Selection Program (EMSSP) is nationally recognized as a unique effort to increase diversity in the physician workforce, which is essential to improving quality and equity in healthcare.
This early assurance program provides a supportive environment and gradually transitions students into the medical school curriculum during the summer terms after their sophomore, junior, and senior years. Students who meet all program requirements can expect to be promoted to Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine upon completing their undergraduate education.
Developed in 1982 with a consortium of historically black colleges and universities, the partnership has expanded to include schools with large Latinx and Pacific Island populations. If you are a student at or plan to attend one of our partner institutions, we invite you to apply.
