American Geriatrics Society

The American Geriatrics Society (AGS) is the premier professional organization of health care providers dedicated to improving the health and well-being of all older adults. Through panels, discussions, and residency advising, the BUSM Student Chapter seeks to educate medical students about the clinical needs and health care concerns of older patients, to promote interest in the field of geriatrics, to encourage opportunities for research, to increase awareness of end-of-life care issues such as palliative and hospice care, and to develop relationships between geriatrics faculty and medical students.

Recently, AGS has launched the Phone Buddies Program, in which medical students are paired with older adult patients at BMC to engage in weekly friendly phone calls in an effort to build community and reduce social isolation. Please feel free to email one of the AGS leaders if you are interested in participating in this program!
