Interventional Cardiology Fellowship

Overview:

The Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Boston Medical Center (BMC) is a one-year, ACGME-accredited fellowship. We accept two applicants.

Program Objectives: 

  1. The primary goal of the Boston Medical Center (BMC) Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program is to provide comprehensive training in the field of Interventional Cardiology.
  2. Trainees will develop the requisite procedural skills, cognitive clinical knowledge, judgment, and professionalism required to practice the subspecialty of Interventional Cardiology.
  3. At the completion of the BMC training program, trainees will have acquired the necessary competency and meet requirements for certification in interventional cardiology, as determined by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and the American Board of Internal Medicine.
  4. Fellows are exposed to peripheral vascular diagnostic and interventional procedures, and structural heart interventional procedures, during their training
  5. In order to provide trainees with exposure to the practice of Interventional Cardiology in the community setting, a rotation is established at Good Samaritan Medical Center, a local, community hospital.
  6. At Good Samaritan Medical Center, fellows will receive training and supervision in the evaluation, management, and interventional treatment of a wide variety of acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions, typical of a community-based, non-referral population.
  7. At Good Samaritan Medical Center, fellows will gain a perspective on patient selection and clinical decision-making in the care of patients in the catheterization laboratory of a community hospital.

Application Process:

Applicants interested in a position must apply via ERAS in early December. Completed applications must be submitted by December 31st. Interviews will be held in January and February.   If ERAS indicates that we are “Not participating”, it means that we have filled our spots with internal fellows.

Requirements:

  • ERAS Application

  • Personal statement
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • USMLE transcripts
  • Valid ECFMG certificate (if foreign medical graduate)
  • Photo
  • Completion and passing of all three USMLE steps
  • ABIM board certified or board eligible
  • Accepted applicants must obtain either a Full or Limited License Massachusetts License. Limited licenses MUST be processed by the Program Coordinator. Applicants must not contact the Board of Registration when applying for a Limited license.
