Early Career Faculty Development Program

The Early Career Faculty Development Program (ECP) introduces faculty, in the early stages of their academic health sciences career, to the resources available on campus by focusing on an academic project that will help advance their careers. Along with seminars focused on project and academic development, participants will receive peer, senior, and project mentoring and networking. 2.5% FTE clinical effort forgiveness provided for BUMG faculty.

Learning Objectives:
  • Develop skills to make substantial progress on an academic project and to effectively communicate project findings
  • Understand and develop a plan for academic advancement in one’s career path (e.g., clinician, educator, researcher,)
  • Develop skills to identify, effectively grow, and work with a developmental network of peer and senior mentors

Target Participants:
  • ~20 BUMC Faculty: including clinicians (MDs, APPs, ODs, etc.), educators, and researchers from all 3 schools at BUMC
  • Must be faculty on the BU Medical Campus for ≥1 year, this includes BU Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, BU School of Public Health, & BU Goldman School of Dental Medicine
  • Must apply with an academic project
Commitment:
  • 10 sessions from October to June, Mondays from 2:30-5:00pm in person
  • Meet with Career Mentor 3x throughout the year
  • Meet with Project Mentor monthly throughout the year
