Medical Education Fellowship

The Medical Education Fellowship Program is a 2-year fellowship program focused on creating future leaders in medical education.  Fellows will be expected to apply for and complete a MS in Health Professions Education, hone teaching skills through mentored teaching opportunities across the education spectrum, and complete a scholarly project.

MS In Health Professions Education

The MS in Health Professions Education is offered through the Boston University School of Medicine, and aims to equip learners to develop, deliver, and evaluate high quality educational experiences.

Mentored teaching opportunities

Fellows are expected to further develop and practice their curriculum development and teaching skills through a variety of mentored and observed clinical and non-clinical teaching experiences, including attending on inpatient wards, precepting in outpatient clinic, developing and/or delivering non-clinical education sessions in both the undergraduate and graduate medical education settings.

Education scholarship

Fellows will also complete at least one mentored medical education research or curriculum development project, with the goal of dissemination through mechanisms such as national meeting or peer-reviewed journal or education platform. Fellows are mentored through selection and execution of this scholarly project, with the goal of a finalized proposal by the Fall of the first year and completion of a prepared form of dissemination by Spring of the second year.

Clinical care

Fellows will provide direct primary and urgent outpatient care in the Adult Primary Care Practice at Boston Medical Center, and [co] precept residents in this same clinic. Fellows will also serve as the attending of record on inpatient resident teaching services.
