Searching Access Medicine
The Access Medicine collection provides access to basic and clinical sciences e-textbooks in a variety of subject areas including pharmacology, biochemistry, epidemiology, histology, microbiology, neuroanatomy, pathology, and more. Popular titles include: Harrison’s Principles of Internal Medicine and Williams Obstetrics.
When using Access Medicine it is possible to:
- Browse each e-textbook individually by chapter
- Locate information using an A-Z index of medical subjects
- Find quick reviews of topics using the alphabetical listing of diseases
- Search across the entire collection by using the search box located at the top of each page
Note: When using any of the four above search methods it is also possible to limit searches by resource (i.e. to a specific e-textbook) or by topic. Limit searches by clicking on the limit links on the left side of all Access Medicine’s search pages.
For example: How does chronic fatigue syndrome present itself in a patient. First search for chronic fatigue syndrome, using one of the four above methods, and then limit the search by clicking on the limit link “symptoms and signs.”
PLEASE NOTE: It is important to log out of e-textbooks when you are finished to ensure that others will also be able to use them. Also, e-textbook access is generally limited to faculty, staff, and students of the Boston University Medical Center and Boston Medical Center.
