Welcome

Welcome to the Department of Radiology at Boston Medical Center and Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. With a long, proud history whose roots reach back more than 120 years, the Department of Radiology is a full-service academic medical imaging department that annually performs over 300,000 screening, diagnostic, and interventional procedures for Boston Medical Center and its affiliated health centers. The department consists of 10 divisions and includes 42 board-certified diagnostic and interventional radiologists, 3 medical physicists, 4 physician assistants, 40 residents, over 125 technologists, 15 nurses and nurse navigators, and 25 support staff. The breadth of experience among our faculty is reflected in a wide range of clinical activities, such as 24 hour onsite coverage of our busy emergency department and level 1 trauma center,  novel approaches in prostate imaging and biopsy guidance using navigator technology, artificial intelligence and machine-learning research, dual energy CT with material decomposition, advanced pulse sequences on MRI (including functional and cardiac MRI), new contrast agents and delivery of novel therapeutics in both the interventional radiology and molecular imaging divisions. Our residency training program prepares future generations of radiologists for rewarding careers in a caring and inquisitive environment. We strive to add value to patient care through professional and timely consultation with referring providers and other healthcare team members. Every member of the department is focused on delivering our core mission: to provide all patients, many of whom come from the neediest populations in the Boston area, with timely access to the most sophisticated medical imaging technology in a compassionate setting.
